The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) is hosting free live webinars:

Webinar #1: Math Night for Parents and Guardians

Date: Wednesday, May 13
Time: 6 p.m.
Location: Virtual via Zoom
Who: Parents/guardians of students in Grades 3, 6 and 9

The webinar will discuss math questions from Ontario’s large-scale assessments, and show how these questions help assess the skills students are learning in their math classes.

Webinar #2: Math Session for Parents and Guardians of Grade 9 Students

Date: Wednesday, May 20
Time: noon
Location: Virtual via Zoom
Who: Parents/guardians of students in Grade 9

The webinar will discuss mathematics questions from the Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics. Participants will hear how these questions help assess the skills students are learning in class. Staff will also highlight valuable insights and resources that can help parents and guardians support their child’s learning.

Webinar #3: Literacy Session for Families: Focus on Reading

Date: Wednesday, June 3

Who: Parents/guardians of students in Grades 3, 6, 9 and 10

The webinar will discuss how EQAO assesses students’ reading skills at key stages of their education. EQAO staff will discuss reading samples and questions from the primary and junior reading assessments, and the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test. Staff will also highlight valuable insights and resources that can help parents/guardians support their child’s learning.

Webinar #4: For Parents and Guardians: Screen Time and Academic Achievement on EQAP Assessments

Date: Tuesday, June 9

Who: Parents/guardians of students in Grades 3, 6, 9 and 10

EQAO is pleased to welcome the TARGet Kids! Research Team as they present their work examining the relationship between children’s screen time and other health behaviours and academic achievement over time on EQAO’s large-scale assessments of reading, writing, and mathematics.

Webinar #5: Literacy Session for Families: Focus on Writing

Date: Thursday, June 11

Location: Virtual via Zoom
Who: Parents/guardians of students in Grades 3, 6, 9 and 10

The webinar will discuss how EQAO assesses students’ writing skills at key stages of their education. EQAO staff will discuss writing prompts and questions from the reading component of the primary- and junior-division assessments and from the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test. Participants will hear how these prompts and questions help assess the skills students are learning in class. Staff will also highlight valuable insights and resources that can help parents and guardians support their child’s learning.
